This country was built on pipe dreams—and that pipe was chock-full of Cannabis. Think about it. A small group of settlers taking on the British Empire? Digging a canal through a malaria-filled jungle? Inventing peanut butter? These are bold ideas. Suspiciously bold ideas.
We’re not saying weed was behind every great American achievement. We’re just saying it would explain a lot. Which is exactly why it’s time to give this patriotic plant a holiday of its own. And that day should be 4/20. Millions already celebrate it. The culture has spoken. And now that Washington is reconsidering cannabis classification, the timing feels right. If they’re updating the rules, they can update the calendar too.
